Tempus, a Nasdaq-listed company that applies artificial intelligence to precision medicine, has appointed a new SVP of Product to run its oncology portfolio. The hire, made in August with Wenham Carter’s help, puts one person in charge of the portfolio’s profit and loss, its product roadmap and its commercial strategy.
That matters because Tempus is growing by acquisition as well as by invention. In July it agreed to buy Personalis, a cancer-genomics firm, for about $1.5bn. The new SVP will decide where the company builds its own products, where it partners and where it buys, and how acquired products fit alongside its own.
