Case StudyTwo decades of partnership through CSG’s evolution

As CSG expanded beyond its core telecoms and cable business, CX and payments became two of its fastest-growing areas.

Building on a 20-year partnership, Wenham Carter helped add the leadership and global teams needed to scale both businesses, supporting their growth in the years leading to CSG’s $2.9 billion acquisition by NEC Corporation.

The growth opportunityScaling two businesses beyond CSG’s traditional core

CSG has long been a major technology partner to the global telecoms and cable industries. As the business diversified, customer experience and payments became increasingly important areas of growth.

Accelerating both required dedicated leadership with the experience to scale global businesses, build go-to-market capability and drive significant new revenue.

For Forte, CSG’s payments business, that meant deep payments expertise. Within CX, it required leaders who understood customer experience technology and complex enterprise sales. Across both, CSG needed executives capable of turning specialist market knowledge into global commercial growth.

The leadership buildPutting experienced operators at the centre of each business

Drawing on our specialist networks across payments, CX and enterprise technology, Wenham Carter helped CSG build leadership around both businesses.

For Forte, we appointed its President and Chief Revenue Officer. Within CX, appointments included the Chief Customer Officer, who subsequently became President of the division, and VP Global Sales & Partnerships.

Our work extended beyond the executive team. We also helped build frontline go-to-market and services capability internationally, adding the teams needed to execute the strategy across global markets.

Business ImpactFrom high-growth divisions to a $2.9 billion acquisition

The leaders appointed helped scale Forte and CX as CSG expanded beyond its traditional markets, strengthening commercial leadership and execution across two of the company’s fastest-growing businesses.

Their progression within CSG also reflects their impact. The Chief Customer Officer appointed for CX moved into the role of President shortly after joining, while the wider leadership and GTM teams continued to support growth across both divisions.

In May 2026, CSG agreed its $2.9 billion acquisition by NEC Corporation, following shareholder approval of 99.7%. The transaction marked a significant milestone for a business that had successfully expanded its position beyond its traditional telecoms base.

Twenty years of partnershipEvolving with CSG as its priorities change

This work forms part of a relationship between CSG and Wenham Carter spanning more than 20 years.

Over that time, we have supported the business internationally across leadership, go-to-market, customer success and delivery, drawing on specialist expertise across telecoms transformation, customer experience, payments and order-to-cash.

As CSG has moved into new markets and developed new sources of growth, the partnership has evolved with it, providing access to the people needed for the business objectives in front of it.
